On July 31, 2010 we had a birthday party for our house. It's been up here in Bernal Hieghts for 100 years now. It's actually had few changes from it's construction in 1910. It is still lathe and plaster walls, same hardwood floors, same high ceilings. We love it! Here's to 100 more.

The Best Commute in the Bay Area

I ride from home to the Ferry Building, a nice 5 mile warmup, where I pick up the paper and a cup of Pete's coffee

Get on the harbor bay ferry for a lovely ride accross the bay




Then it's a nice exercise ride of 13.7 miles around Oakland airport onto the Bay trail down to Hayward

So, made it to the cycle hostle. Hmmm, appears Im bunking 4 to a room with 7 other guys. Oh and did I mention I'm the oldest one here by a solid 15 years. Well the guys are all sitting there staring at a TV with some Woody Harrelson Zombie movie. At least I saw they had a few beers out.Well after a while a really young kid shows up, like 17. He looks bewildered and lost. He's got his Mom on the phone. He splits for like a half hour. Then one of the guys in the rrom hands me his cell phone_ says it's Murray, the host. So I take it. Murray is very corduel and lets me know that he has assigned me to the other room. Which I now know is where they send us old guys. 2 to a room, respectablle. Got a room to myself. Ahhhh, good night. Vision of bicycles dance in my head!
